AKUSTRON measures the air permeabilityof filter papers, non-wovens and textile fabricswithin seconds. Easily transportable, thisunit is ideal for monitoring material onthe production line, inspecting incomingmaterial on-site and on-going qualitycontrol in the lab. Constructed of the mostrugged materials, the AKUSTRON withstandsthe demands of constant usage.
Operation
Automated testing ensures there are nouser related variables. The sample is insertedinto the slot, and the lever is pulled forward.This clamps the sample and begins the testingautomatically. The method of measurement isbased on two, long-life approved speakers.The speaker in the lower enclosure generatesan oscillating air-column which displacesair through the test sample. A secondspeaker in the upper enclosure works as asensor and measures the amount of air thatpasses through the clamped sample. Themeasurement is completed in about 3seconds, and results are shown immediatelyon the integrated digital display. AnRS-232 interface is able to send the testdata directly to a PC.
AKUSTRON software is included andautomatically displays the test data intoan already opened spreadsheet. Thedata can also be downloaded directly toa company ’s existing quality controlprogram.
The ease of operation ensures highlyrepeatable results and studies haveproven that the results correlate accuratelywith DIN 53 887, DIN 53 120, ISO9237 and ASTM D 737-96. A brasstest-plate is available to check the accuracyon a regular basis.
