The Simtronics GD1 laser open path gas detector sets a new standard for H2S gas detection. Using a tuneable laser diode the GD1 delivers enhanced coverage and fail safe toxic gas detection. The performance improvement marks a major step for personnel safety systems.
The GD1 is also available with a dual output gas configuration. A single laser can be used to detect both Methane and Hydrogen Sulphide, hence reduced cabling, installation and maintenance costs. The detector utilises a tuneable laser diode that eliminates environmental effects from sun, rain and fog. The laser scans single absorption lines where there is no interference from other gases. Unlike conventional open path detectors for combustible gas, the GD1 laser open path detector is locked to detection of a single gas.
The complete optomechanical design and construction is so stable that an ultra fast speed of response can be achieved whilst providing unparalleled service life and detector stability, thus saving on maintenance and service costs.

Tuneable laser diode / laser scanning
This optical gas detection technology gives the unique detector stability and detection specifity required for reliable detection of toxic gases in low ppm concentrations.
No undisclosed source of failure
The optical and electronic design is according to IEC 65108 making the GD1 system applicable for use in SIL2 systems. This inherent safety is crucial when detecting toxic gases.
High sensitivity
The sensitivity achieved makes GD1 suitable for personnel safety purposes, covering the new long term exposure recommondations.
Optional Methane detection output
The unique laser scan used in the GD1 system allows for measuring two gases simultanously in one sweep. Each gas have a separate output signal.
Application
The GD1 laser open path gas detector has been designed with features that provide an effective response to the detection of gas hazards in a wide range of industrial environments from offshore production facilities to wastewater treatment plants.
