The RDA III A is capable of sensing and warning the operator of the presence of combustible gases. This product is also available with optional oxygen deficiency warning system, and/or water level warning system.

It only takes a moment for a fatal accident to occur. Continuous monitoring on the RDA III A provides safety by ensuring that unforeseen exposure to gases between testing periods does not go undetected, such as with a ruptured gas line.

This unit has a master panel that is left outside while the craftsperson takes the remote unit in the manhole with him. The master panel is equipped with warning lights and an audio alarm. There is an emergency button on the remote sensor, which the craftsperson can use to signal the master panel to alert company personnel or passersby if problems arise or there is an emergency situation.

The audio and visual alarms will activate on both units (remote and master panel) when the calibrated level of gas concentration is reached, at the sensor. Alarms can not be turned off at the sensor location; instead the operator must leave the contaminated area and manually reset the master unit. If gas is present at the sensor location, the master unit can not be turned off. Loss of electrical communications between the remote sensor and the master unit (such as the cable being pulled out of one of the units or the cable being cut) will cause the master unit alarm system to activate and can not be silenced except by the operator, at the master panel site.

This unit is calibrated at the factory to alarm at 10% LEL of Methane/air concentrations, however other calibrations are possible.
